The title of this final degree project makes clear that its research will be focussed on psychological aspects of film direction, with special emphasis on three of them: light, color and movement. It goes after an investigation that will also build a delicate relationship between cinematography and the viewer, what will allow to analyse moral and psychological issues that concern this audiovisual context. Before starting the study, it is necessary to answer three consequent questions that the same title forces to solve despite its simplicity: 1. Why focus on the framework of psychology in the cinema? 2. Why study the aspects of color, light and movement in the cinema? 3. Why further narrow this study to a single analysis of a piece? First of all, cinematography can be considered as a result of an exquisite process that shapes an idea and polishes its intentionality in order to reach psychological objectives, usually on the viewer. Every audiovisual project has an audience from which a certain reaction is expected depending on the perceived content. In second place, color, light and movement are three elements with an infinite power of meaning and therefore offers a wide variety of techniques. These three instruments are considered as generators of emotions, so the main objective will be to find out if directors and screenwriters use the technique consciously to achieve a desired reaction on the spectator. Regarding the third question, the main reason for focusing the study on a single cinematographic analysis is due to the methodological need to narrow the field of its research. In this way, even more specific results will be defined, among which many examples related to our theoretical framework abound. The analysis will be focussed on the aesthetics and psychology of Stranger Things, emphasizing the study in the three mentioned elements.
