The aim of this study is to analyze how media communication disseminates sexist and stereotyped content. The study sources have been Mexican soap operas. This television product was broadcasted between last years of XX and the beginning of XXI century in TV Azteca and Televisa, both most important TV channels in Mexico. This topic arises a number of key issues involving the most outstanding stereotypes. During the study, in order to show this behaviour, two groups have been formed. On the one hand, the study comprises the general attributes that define how are they generated and the way of social maintenance. It is important to identify its components in a more specific area such as gender roles. On the other hand, the second group deals with the inclusion of violence in the chapters. Also it has been observed how this violence is related to concepts as role, status and position of the components. To deepen it is necessary to do a comparative between six selected chapters from different soap operas. With this in mind, we can conceptualize the stereotyped and sexist aspects and analyze the consequences due to the misuse of audiovisual content.
