La función simbólica y narrativa de los animales en la obra de Hayao Miyazaki

Abstract

En este trabajo se realizará un análisis de la figura de seis animales escogidos de la filmografía de Hayao Miyazaki, así como la simbología y funcionalidad dentro de la obra. Se estudiarán diversos factores tales como la importancia en el desarrollo del personaje y de la película, su relación con alguno de los tópicos argumentales del autor, su connotación espiritual o su relación con la naturaleza. En primer lugar se establecerá un marco teórico sobre el que estudiar dichos animales, que estará compuesto por: la figura de Hayao Miyazaki dentro del Studio Ghibli, conceptos tales como el animismo o el totemismo, las seis películas seleccionadas para ser estudiadas y la interrelación de dichos filmes con los conceptos establecidos anteriormente. Finalmente se realizará el estudio de dichas figuras y se clasificarán según los factores anteriormente planteados.

This work presents an analysis of six selected animal figures from the filmography of Hayao Miyazaki, focusing on their symbolism and narrative function within his works. Various factors will be examined, including their importance in character and plot development, their connection to recurring thematic elements in Miyazaki’s cinema, their spiritual connotation, and their relationship with nature. The study begins with a theoretical framework that includes: Hayao Miyazaki’s role within Studio Ghibli, conceptual notions such as animism and totemism, the six selected films to be analyzed and the interrelation between these films and the aforementioned concepts. Finally, each animal figure will be studied and classified according to the proposed analytical categories.
