The purpose of this “Final Work of Master” is to investigate sick building syndrome (SEE), through the study of different bibliographic sources, such as scientific articles, magazines and other bibliographies of scientific renown.
That they lead us to a better understanding of the problem, based on its origin, causes and possible solutions.
Sick building syndrome (SBS) is an expression that has been used since the mid-1980s to refer to situations in which building occupants perceive acute harmful effects on their health, as well as discomfort related to the time of exposure within these places, all of the above indicates that the palpable harmful effects in different organizations are a major health problem that affects workers. This problem manifests itself in hermetic buildings, which have non-openable windows, where more than 20% of the occupants present complaints regarding their state of health.
The actual incidence of the problem is unknown, but the who estimates that it affects 30% of modern buildings, causing inconvenience to 10-30% of occupants. It is common for sick buildings to have problems related to their air conditioning equipment. Its occupants present complaints related to their health in higher proportions than expected (>20%). Its nature is complicated to determine since its origins are very varied.
