The De colgar or De penjar tomato is a varietal type or group of varieties very popular in the Spanish Mediterranean coast. It is a tomato selected by farmers and apreciated for its juiciness, flavour and especially for its case of being rubbed into bread. Its name derives from the traditional techniques developed by the farmers, since they hang in the wall bunches of tomatoes sewn by their stalks, where they can stay for a long time without depreciation in quality or texture. This is explained by the presence of a long-life gene in its DNA known as alcobaça (alc) allele, which performances slowing down postharvest ripening. In currently work, we have designed a molecular marker that will allow to control the alc allele in the laboratory in a fast, accurate and low-cost procedure. For this, we converted a CAP marker, based on a SNP between alc and ALC alleles, into a marker for HRM method. We performed several experiments to optimise the PCR and melting, with the aim to unequivocally distinguish the homozygous and heterozygous samples. This marker will be very useful to genotyping a great De colgar tomato collection, allowing identify the accessions carrying the alc allele without the need to perform long postharvest studies
