The recent collaboration between CIAGRO-UMH and IMIDA for the valorization of traditional tomato varieties has led to the development of three hybrids from crosses between UMH tomato lines with virus resistance and accessions from the BAGERIM germplasm bank, selected for their high organoleptic and nutritional quality. These hybrids are of the Muchamiel, Pera and Rosa types, with resistance to important viral diseasses in tomato, with a recognizable traditional appearance and good fruit quality. Part of the study proposes to graft these hybrids onto 10 commercial rootstocks to evaluate the performance of each combination and choose those that impove yield and at least equal the quality offered by the ungrafted hybrid. In current work, we try to find out if we can perceive real differences in fruit quality between the different rootstocks used. For this pupose, we have carried out a sensory analysis, with visual evaluation and subsequent tasting, of each of the three UMH-IMIDA hybrids plus a commercial control hybrid, all of them grafted onto the same 10 rootstocks. The results show significant negative effects associated with rootstock, especially on fruit appearance and flavor, with important differences in behavior among combinations
