Introduction
Social interaction and communication are part of specific characteristics of the activity and are defined as measurable and observable skills. These are learned and developed over time and are found within specific contexts and environments. Thus, they are actions or behaviors that the person uses to communicate and interact with others in an interactive and fluid way. According to the Aota Framework, communication is understood as a set of actions or behaviors that people use to interact with others. This represents one of the most important performance skills for daily life, since it is implicit in many of the areas of human occupation which without it could not be developed effectively, such as education, work, leisure activities or social participation. Among the most common disorders with communication difficulties we find autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The augmentative and alternative communication system is a tangible system that allows the user to develop communication with the aim of communicating autonomously on unlimited topics and with known or unknown interlocutors. A communication strategy that aims to implement an augmentative and alternative communication system is assisted natural language. This guide is designed to facilitate the use of Asterics Grid and show examples of its use in daily life and in leisure activities for any child who is a user of the device.
Objective
To provide information and tools to family members or caregivers on the use of assisted natural language with the Asterics Grid communicator in different areas of occupation.
Development of the guide
The structure of this guide will consist of 6 sections “Why did we create this guide?”, “Who is this guide aimed at?”, “Uses that we can give to Asterics Grid”, “How to design your personalized board”, “Examples of designing a personalized board for a 6-year-old child to use in their daily life
Dissemination and outreach strategy
This guide will be available on the internet and will be disseminated through social networks to give it greater visibility. In addition, contact will be made with offices and schools that address these communication difficulties and that may be users of Asterics Grid. Therefore, a presentation will be
made for families and professionals who are interested in it and at Occupational Therapy conferences to disseminate it among colleagues in the profession
