eSports have fostered the birth of new audiovisual forms through its transmissions in the
digital era. The world has had to adapt to the Internet and all its technological qualities, which
has led to an adaptation of the video games themselves and their transmissions so that they
can be seen and understood by the public that consumes them.
Advances in the Internet have made multiplayer and spectator mode possible, which has
made it possible for these competitive video games to be taken to the most professional
sphere, even leading to the creation of tournaments and official events.
Each video game and each modality has different characteristics in terms of gameplay and
broadcasting capacity. Therefore, in this Final Degree Project, three major titles
(Counter-Strike, League of Legends and Fortnite) have been analyzed to identify their
similarities and differences. To carry out such analysis, we begin by clarifying what
cybersports are from their beginnings to the present day. It also establishes which are the key
figures within the competitions and teams.
In this way, through the search and research of articles, theses, Final Degree Projects and
divulgation books, it is possible to understand the current perspective and situation of digital
sports and where they are moving forward in terms of audiovisual style, broadcasting,
narrative, gameplay and technical equipment needed.
