Anorexia Nervosa (AN) is one of the most prevalent severe mental disorders among young
women aged 12 to 21 in Spain. It is characterized by a dysfunctional relationship with caloric
intake and an obsession with weight control, leading to a distorted body image. These
disorders not only affect physical health but also have a devastating impact on the emotional
well-being of family members. Those living with the patient often experience high levels of guilt,
distress, stress, and anxiety, which can deteriorate family bonds and worsen the adolescent's
condition. One of the most effective treatments for anorexia nervosa, involving family members
and integrating parents as main agents of change, is Family Based Treatment (FBT). This
treatment educates parents with strategies to manage AN. Therefore, this project aims to
design an intervention program for the families of adolescent patients with an eating disorder, based on FBT, in a group format, with 7 sessions, combined with emotional management
intervention. To evaluate the program, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21), the
Family Questionnaire (FQ), and the Care Skills for Eating Disorders Questionnaire (CASK) will
be used.
