Dark personality traits have always been associated with bad behavior in daily life. However,
there is a need for examining which kinds of behaviors can be carried out by people with
these traits in an organizational context. To that end, this paper’s goal is to verify a possible
connection between dark personality traits and counterproductive behavior at work as well
as try to provide adequate methodology to correctly identify such candidates. Consequently,
we have carried out a systematic review of papers with the following criteria: a) the paper’s
subject is related to our study’s goal, b) the methodology presented in the paper is solid and
well founded for studying dark personality traits, c) the sample studied in the paper belongs
to work and organization environments, d) the sample studied in the paper consists of at
least 100 people, e) the paper was published between 2015 and 2023 and f) the paper is
written in either English or Spanish. Lastly, our investigation has reached the conclusion that
there is enough proof to consider that dark personality traits are correlated with
counterproductive work behavior.
