Introduction:
The pelvic floor is a unique anatomical place where the balance of the different pressures play a
fundamental role in the physiological functioning of all the structures contained in it. A deficiency of
these muscles will cause urinary dysfunctions. On the other hand, CrossFit is an exercise program in
which high-intensity functional movements are performed, and previous studies have shown that the
highest intra-abdominal pressures is generated when weight is lifted. Stress urinary incontinence is the
involuntary leakage of urine that occurs with increases in intra-abdominal pressure like with
high-impact and repetitive exercises. Materials and methods:
The study is a cross-sectional observational study. A survey was passed to women from Crossfit Albir
and the final sample was of 27 women between the ages of 18 and 45. The survey consisted of an
anamnesis, the ICIQ-SF and questions related to the exercises. Statistical analysis was performed by
the R program. Results:
A significant correlation was only obtained in terms of history of incontinence (p < 0.05), with a
greater number of non-incontinent women with such a family history. The most prominent exercises in
incontinent women have been box jumps, thrusters, double unders, single unders and wall ball, and
incontinence is seen to be associated with exercises in which they lift less than 50 kg.
Conclusions:
Of all the variables measured, only having a family history of urinary incontinence was found to have
a significant association. Nearly two to three times as many more women with incontinence leaked at
some time, contrary to women without a diagnosis of incontinence.
