Análisis visual de Ratched: cómo el color cuenta una historia

Abstract

Ratched es una serie ambientada en 1947 creada y dirigida por Ryan Murphy en 2020. La dirección de fotografía en manos de Simon Dennis, Nelson Cragg y Blake Mclure destaca por el uso del color para crear ambientes, comunicar emociones y estados mentales de los personajes, dotando a la obra de una dimensión psicológica característica. En esta investigación, mediante los conocimientos sobre color y fotografía aprendidos durante el grado, y a través de un análisis de los recursos de la dirección de fotografía en relación con el momento de la trama, definimos el uso del color en la serie en torno al estudio desarrollado por Eva Heller (Heller, 2004). Se analizarán aspectos como la saturación y el tono del color, pero también su disposición en el plano, la asociación con el momento y los personajes, entre otros aspectos, con la finalidad de examinar su papel en la trama.

Ratched is a series set in 1947 created and directed by Ryan Murphy in 2020. The direction of photography in the hands of Simon Dennis, Nelson Cragg and Blake Mclure stands out for the use of color to create environments, communicate emotions and mental states of the characters, giving the work a characteristic psychological dimension. In this research, using the knowledge about color and photography learned during the degree, and through an analysis of the resources of the direction of photography in relation to the moment of the plot, we define the use of color in the series around the study developed by Eva Heller (Heller, 2004). Aspects such as color saturation and tone will be analyzed, but also its arrangement in the shot, the association with the moment and the characters, among other aspects, in order to examine its role in the plot.
