Although memes are a viral phenomenon that has conquered the internet for more than 10 years, the concept of “meme” has existed for people since cavemen times, as they are elements of behavior transmission. Memes, since something can be considered as such, have served to, indirectly, include society's way of thinking.
From the most personal relationships to the entire digital community present on the Internet, memes are used to inoculate ideas, directly or indirectly. Memes can transmit everything, from sensations to concrete ideas, and all of these variants serve to implement or modify previous ideas.
The social context for this to happen is also favorable, considering all the characteristics of a society that is accustomed to being in contact with the digital and, therefore, with memes. In this stage of overinformation and voracious content, memes are often capable of instilling ideas without the receiver of the information being able to realize it. And this can mean that many times people are not able to remember where an idea comes from, with a meme being the possible origin.
Due to the potential of memes to settle into people's psyches, in one way or another, numerous companies in different fields have begun to use them in their advertising campaigns. In many cases, this decision has favored the brand's image, especially for younger audiences accustomed to the digital field.
