This work studies a Mathematical Route, a type of informal learning that consists of a tour through various places of cultural interest. As these places are explored, mathematical problems inspired by the characteristics, history, and contexts of each location are posed. This methodology brings mathematics closer to the daily life of the student, demonstrating its practical component and utility, as well as fostering interdisciplinarity with other sections of the curriculum. It is expected that this activity will stimulate curiosity, critical thinking, and the appreciation of mathematics in the real world, thereby increasing students’ interest and motivation in mathematics. The proposed mathematical route takes place through the historic center of the city of Alicante. All the selected emblematic places are public and allow free entry. For each of these locations, one or more mathematical problems are proposed, allowing students to exercise critical thinking. Questions are also posed that require collaboration among groups of students, thereby developing teamwork as well. The questions posed are interdisciplinary with other subjects, such as history, geology, or literature. As a form of informal education, the mathematical route suggested in this work presents a high degree of flexibility, so if any of the suggested places are no longer open to the public for any reason, many others can replace them.
