La despoblació rural en la premsa: una anàlisi qualitativa de les notícies en el diario.es i El Mundo

Abstract

La despoblació és un mal endèmic que ve afectant l’estat espanyol des de mitjans del segle passat i que, a mesura que passen els anys, es converteix en un problema que amenaça amb la desaparició de moltes localitats arreu de tot el país. Els estudis realitzats fins al moment ofereixen una àmplia informació al voltant de les causes i conseqüències del despoblament rural, així com possibles solucions i estudis en detall de zones i situacions concretes. No obstant això, i pel que fa a una perspectiva des de l’àmbit periodístic, són molt minoritaris els estudis on es combinen comunicació i despoblació. És per aquest motiu que el present treball pretén oferir una visió més a tenir en compte a l’hora de conéixer tots els factors que envolten a la despolació, a més de ser un estudi actual. Aquest treball exposa una anàlisi qualitativa de les notícies que es publiquen al voltant de la despoblació. Per a acotar la mostra s’han pres com a elements a analitzar els articles que es poden trobar en els webs del diari El Mundo i eldiario.es, dos mitjans de la premsa escrita que difereixen en les seues línies editorials, el que permet observar si existeixen diferències en el tractament d’aquest tipus d’informació. Aquest estudi permetrà, a més, comprendre quina és la informació que els mitjans de comunicació transmeten al públic, quins temes, de tots els que envolten el despoblament rural, es publiquen, com es tracta eixa informació i quina rellevància pren dins de l’agenda setting. Açò es tradueix en quina és la concepció de la societat al voltant d’aquest tema i l’actuació en conseqüència.

Depopulation is an endemic disease that has been affecting the Spanish state since the middle of the last century and, as the years go by, it becomes a problem that threatens the disappearance of many localities around the country. The studies carried out so far provide extensive information on the causes and consequences of rural depopulation, as well as possible solutions and detailed studies of specific areas and situations. However, regarding a journalistic perspective, the studies that combine communication and depopulation are very minority. It is for this reason that this paper aims to offer a further vision to take into account when knowing all the factors surrounding depopulation, in addition to be a current study. This paper presents a qualitative analysis of the news published about depopulation. To narrow down the sample, elements have been taken to analyze the articles that can be found on the websites of the newspaper El Mundo and eldiario.es, two print media that differ in their editorial lines. This allows to observe if there are differences in the treatment of this type of information. This study will also make it possible to understand what information the media transmit to the public, what issues, of all those surrounding rural depopulation, are published, how this information is dealt with and what relevance it has within the agenda setting. This translates into society’s conception of this issue and action accordingly.
