Looking back on the past. Remembering. People, events and situations. Learning. Both,
the successes and errors. And so, several times until building your own memories. Your
story.
Persistently, I attempted to retrieve parts of the collective records. Therefore the
testimonies of six women of Elche are essential. These women share with the people their
experiences during key moments of Spain such as the post-war, Franco or transition.
Experiences, anecdotes and relationships. Although it has been years and life is as fleeting
as that youthful fire that suddenly turns into ashes, there will always be remains, which
will endure in a tiny hole, even though we try to get rid of them.
All that belongs to an introspective journey that, as it is narrated in the first person, allows
us to see the events through the eyes of Ana Marchante, María Teresa Sempere, María
del Carmen Baeza, Charo Pérez, Mercedes Planes y Pilar Sanz, who will be sometimes
referring to facts that have happened to people close to them.
Determined, transgressive and courageous women who rebelled against conservative
values established centuries ago. As a result, they got their own acclaimed independence.
Step by step, they managed to gain a foothold in a world dominated mostly by men,
because the female role was limited to performing domestic tasks and family needs. But
like all the walls, this ended up to be knocked over as well. Through their participation in
politics (PSOE, PP and PCE), they have been a speaker ensuring visibility and women’s
rights, demonstrating that we are all equally capable.
If a year can give us all that content…do you imagine how exciting can be being immersed
in every vibrant experience of these six exemplary protagonists who are more than 70
years? You will be discovering and appreciating the important changes that have took
place in society in just a few decades.
