The bibliographical research work carried out on these pages is based on the current meaning of the words post-truth and fake news. It cannot be said that these are new terms, as fake news and manipulation have existed along the history. The purpose is to analyse the result of the overuse and misuse of fake news and what is currently known as post-truth, as if it was a trend, which leads us to wonder, how does this phenomenon affect society? and, what role does the media play? Nowadays, not only do we keep informed by means of traditional media like television, radio or printed press, but also via social networking sites and online platforms. Users access the internet from any electronic device with available data. Social network users are the ones who make the information or misinformation, either truthful or not, travel at the speed of light. We share and interact as active users, making the information go viral on different platforms, such as Facebook, Instragram, Youtube, Twitter, etc. Daily we hear and read different pieces of manipulated information, not only in politics, it also happens in social and cultural events. All this misinformation sways people´s decision making about highly relevant matters. We are concerned about the fact that the phenomenon of fake news and post-truth is used as a new way of communicating, since this fact detracts from the credibility and reputation of the various means of communication and members of this profession. At present we are witnessing a digital technological revolution which goes on spreading rapidly every day. That is why we believe that digital teaching, from an early age, would be a solution. Therefore, everyone would be better informed and would make a good use of technology. We contextualise the post-truth era and present some examples, the objective, learn what the interest in the spread is. We wonder whether the applications or techniques to detect false reports, the well known `fact-checking´, are accurate. We have based our methodology on reading different authors who have written or spoken about post-truth, and communication magazine articles related to the same topics. After the reading, we have analised why the terms post-truth and fake news are so famous, as they are used on the media every day. In order to find out sources and look into the issue, we made seven questions about post-truth and fake news and sent them to three communication professionals via email. Then, in the section about result, we have included them and commented the outcome. The objective of the interviews is to contrast different views, with the purpose of reaching conclusions, answering the questions before mentioned and expanding them. We conclude that there are many lines of research about the topic of post-truth and fake news, now and in the future, as it is constantly active.
