In a society with informative needs which are different from old ones, the new technologies entail survival challenges for traditional media. The communication models are change, so are the audience profiles, and the ICH present themselves as a carte blanche to information for the whole public.
This study seeks to determine which are the agreement points around the incorporation of new technologies, by performing a comparison between national scene and Alicante Province, and assessing how they have adapted their communicative strategies to the demands of today with the aim of not losing leadership or users. Despite the fact that new technologies have brought advantages such instantaneity, mobility and economy, it is these same characteristics that, in many cases, turn against the production of quality journalism. This research seeks to clarify the pros and cons of ICT in the media field.
The new users of the mass media are increasingly suspicious about the information they receive, because they associate it with media coerced by government entities that restrict objectivity. From here comes the idea of citizen journalism, which is, with the help of social networks, the protagonist of the digital panorama.
The future of digital media is uncertain and constantly evolving. Thus, the task of journalism is, with the help of these resources, to find a way to lead information through the path of objectivity, social commitment and analysis.
