Safety is an issue that worries people when they leave their homes. The locality of the province of Alicante, Aspe, is a small town, although for that reason safety does not matter less to its inhabitants, because the danger can appear in the most unexpected way: earthquake, flood, fire ... The town has both provincial emergency plans and county emergency plans, but, apart from the Municipal Burning Plan, it lacks a Security Plan, because it is still being drafted.
To the town come up emergency services such as the Elche Fire Brigade, sent by the Alicante Fire Brigade Consortium, because is just 10 minutes from Aspe. In addition to the Firemen, the town has several Security Bodies that are Civil Protection, the Guardia Civil and the Local Police. This last body attends in the citizen emergencies, although sometimes these incidences are beyond their capabilities and they have to been derived in other bodies through the 112. In general, those responsible for the Fire and Local Police say that the coordination is good and that they have been following a well-defined chain of command for years.
In terms of security in public places, these have signage and evacuation plan, normally, although, an exception of educational centers, those responsible for security, sometimes, are unaware of their duties, and do not perform periodic drills. The same does not happen in the 10 educational centers of the locality, where except for one exception and two incidents the performance of the simulacrums is respected. And an innovative measure is the police patrols close to the centers to avoid uncivil behavior, which arose from meetings between heads of the centers and police.
In terms of security, Aspe has good services, but needs a security plan of its own and effectively and control the performance of simulacrums in public spaces.
