Validation of the Brief Questionnaire of Executive Functions Webexec: Performance Tests and Psychological Symptoms. The main goal was to validate the brief questionnaire of executive functions (EF) Webexec in Spanish adolescents. It was hypothesized that it would show an unifactorial structure. The second aim was to find how Webexec works at different adolescent ages, hoping that it would show variations depending on age. The third aim was to investigate whether Webexec correlated with EF performance tests: cognitive flexibility, attention and inhibitory control. It was hypothesized that both types of tasks would correlate negatively. The fourth aim was to study whether Webexec correlated with internalizing and externalizing symptoms; being the fourth hypothesis that Webexec would correlate positively with these symptoms. The sample included 626 adolescents (12-17 years-old) from high schools of Bizkaia (Spain). EF in self-report form (Webexec) and performance (Cambios and d2), aggressive behavior and symptoms of depression and social anxiety were evaluated. Furthermore, a subsample (n = 486) answered the Webexec once again 5-6 months later. The results showed that Webexec had good psychometric properties and its structure was invariant across age groups. Webexec correlated negatively with Cambios and d2 and positively with internalizing and externalizing symptoms. These results hold that Webexec is an adequate questionnaire to assess the perception of global EF. In addition, it has the strengths of being brief, simple, and easy to apply and correct.
