The objective of this study is to assess and compare the job satisfaction of primary education teachers in public, private and state-subsidised schools in the province of Alicante. The sample consisted of 37 participants, divided into three groups according to the type of school. 55.8% are women (N = 24). The mean age of participants was 40.49 years (SD = 10.35). In order to assess job satisfaction and its dimensions, the Escala de Satisfacción Laboral – Versión Profesores de Anaya (2005) was used. The results indicate that there are differences in overall job satisfaction among teachers in public, private and state-subsidised centers (F = 8.851, p = .001). Furthermore, significant differences in the dimensions of Work Design (F = 6.435, p = .004), Living Conditions Associated with Work (F = 5.141, p = .011), Personal Fulfillment (F = 6.112, p = .005) and Promotion and Superiors (F = 11.237, p = .000). Teachers having the greatest degree of job satisfaction are those working in private and state-subsidised centers, compared to employees in public centers who feel less satisfied.
