The following work shows the evaluation and intervention performed in the case of a child under 10 years of age initially diagnosed with intellectual disability with ASD features, and later with intellectual disability due to lack of stimulation, produced by bilateral moderate conductive hearing loss. The evaluation of the level of development was carried out through the Battelle Development Inventory, making a differential diagnosis using the IDEA questionnaire in order to rule out possible TEA, Peabody and ITPA traits to detect possible failures or difficulties in the communication process. The patient presented frequent stereotypies and abruptness when interacting with others in different situations occurring in daily life. The applied treatment consisted of cognitive-behavioral therapy based on stimulation, behavior modification techniques and social skills, and speech recovery at the speech-therapy level. This treatment was carried out by the patient, with the help of a speech therapist as a co-therapist. This was developed over approximately ten months, consisting of 84 sessions lasting 45 minutes. At the end of the treatment, both their social skills and their level of communication had improved considerably, while their stereotypies were greatly reduced. The results obtained corroborate the effectiveness of the cognitive-behavioral treatment and logopedic therapy based on auditory recovery, and attach great importance to the exhaustive evaluation and early detection in different disorders related to neurodevelopment.
