The factors that affect the appearance of anomalies in wildlife species are very diverse, that is why it is really important to study them in order to preserve and manage the populations. In this final degree project are typified the malformation data found in the spur-thighed tortoise (Testudo graeca) compiled by the Ecology Department during the different years of census. An analysis of the anomalies of tortoises has been done considering the type of malformation, the characteristics of the individuals, genetic diversity and precipitation. From the obtained results we have identified that the frequency of malformations is bigger in the marginal scutes than in the vertebral ones; there are no significant differences regarding sex or age; and lastly, the appearance of anomalies rises according to the distance from the origin of the expansion in the basin of Vera (Almeria).
