La terapia ocupacional en la asistencia terapéutica infantil.

Abstract

El Trastorno por Déficit de Atención e Hiperactividad (TDAH) es uno de los trastornos del neurodesarrollo más frecuentes en la infancia y adolescencia, caracterizado por inatención, hiperactividad e impulsividad, con repercusiones en el rendimiento escolar, la vida familiar, la autorregulación emocional y la participación social. La variabilidad clínica descrita en los sistemas diagnósticos evidencia la necesidad de intervenciones individualizadas y multidimensionales que integren tanto las características del menor como su contexto de desarrollo. En este escenario, la Persona de Asistencia Terapéutica Infantil (PATI) se configura como un recurso esencial de apoyo en la vida cotidiana de los niños con TDAH. Sin embargo, aunque la normativa actual habilita el acceso a esta profesión desde titulaciones diversas, no siempre asegura la preparación específica requerida para responder a sus necesidades. En este sentido, la Terapia Ocupacional, enfocada en la identificación y el abordaje de las dificultades en las actividades de la vida diaria, el desempeño académico, el ocio y la interacción social, aporta un marco metodológico idóneo para orientar la práctica del PATI. El presente Trabajo Fin de Grado desarrolla una guía práctica destinada al PATI, cuyo objetivo es ofrecer pautas sencillas y accesibles inspiradas en la Terapia Ocupacional. Incluye estrategias para potenciar la atención, la organización, la autorregulación emocional y la interacción social, así como orientaciones para identificar patrones relevantes en el entorno escolar y comunicarlos a familias y terapeutas. Con ello se pretende reforzar la colaboración interdisciplinar y favorecer el desarrollo integral del niño desde una perspectiva cercana, funcional y contextualizada.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most prevalent neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood and adolescence, characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, with significant repercussions on academic performance, family life, emotional self-regulation, and social participation. The clinical variability described in diagnostic classification systems highlights the need for individualized and multidimensional interventions that consider both the characteristics of the child and their developmental context. In this scenario, the figure of the Child Therapeutic Assistance Professional (PATI) emerges as a key resource to support children with ADHD in their daily lives. Although current regulations allow access to this profession from diverse academic backgrounds, they do not always ensure the specific preparation required to adequately address the needs of this population. Occupational Therapy, focused on identifying and addressing difficulties in activities of daily living, academic performance, leisure, and social interaction, provides an appropriate methodological framework to guide the work of the PATI. This Final Degree Project develops a practical guide aimed at PATIs, with the objective of offering simple and accessible strategies, grounded in the perspective of Occupational Therapy. The guide includes techniques to foster attention, organization, emotional self-regulation, and social interaction, as well as guidelines for identifying patterns in the school environment and communicating them to families and reference therapists. In this way, the guide seeks to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and promote the child’s integral development from a close, functional, and contextualized perspective.
