Introduction: Menopause is a vital stage in a woman's life that typically occurs between the ages of 40 and 45. It is defined as the cessation of ovarian activity for approximately 12 consecutive months. This phase is crucial for women, and throughout the transition to menopause, a series of changes and factors can negatively impact their health and well-being. Among these, one of the most common is the occurrence of cardiac events. Therefore, adequate information combined with an aerobic or resistance-based physical activity program can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and manage menopausal symptoms.
Objectives: Review the current literature and verify whether physical exercise, whether aerobic or resistance-based, reduces the symptoms associated with cardiac events.
Methodology: A bibliographic search was carried out in four different databases: PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science, published since 2014.
Results: According to the twelve articles reviewed, both aerobic and strength exercises improve lipid levels, motor coordination, range of motion, reduce arterial stiffness, and increase muscle strength, contributing to a higher quality of life for women.
Conclusions: Physical activity and maintaining an active lifestyle reduces cardiovascular disease and improves women's health.
