Introduction : Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a neuropathic disorder that mainly affects
the extremities, characterized by persistent and disproportionate pain, along with sensory, motor and
autonomic alterations. This pathology has a high incidence, being more common in women between
40 and 70 years old. The diagnosis is based on IASP clinical criteria and there are several
classifications.
Objectives : To know the scientific evidence of the last five years on physiotherapy treatments in
complex regional pain syndrome.
Material and methods : A search was carried out for clinical trials in the Pubmed, Scopus, PEDro
and Scielo databases published from 2019 to 2023 and relating physiotherapy treatments and complex
regional pain syndrome.
Results : A total of 9 articles were analyzed, all of which were clinical trials with a value greater than
5 on the PEDro scale. The results show that some treatments may be effective but there is not enough
evidence to support this.
Conclusion : The optimal strategy to treat CRPS includes early diagnosis and treatment with a
multidisciplinary approach. The evidence on physiotherapy is limited and more studies are needed.
Investing in research and evidence-based clinical guidelines would improve quality of life and
optimize health resources.
