In an increasingly digitalised world, screens dominate and generate numerous addictions that affect all ages, especially children and adolescents. This report analyses the negative impact of excessive mobile device use and exposure to pornography among young people, highlighting the dangers of uncontrolled technology use. Various professionals agree that excessive screen time can affect the cognitive and emotional development of children, causing problems such as sleep disorders and addictions. In Spain, most children receive their first mobile device at nine years old. Technology addiction can impact the social relationships and emotional development of adolescents, particularly those with risk factors such as impulsivity and a dysfunctional family environment. It also examines how social media perpetuates gender stereotypes, with teenagers seeking validation through superficial behaviours, emphasising the need for coeducation to break these stereotypes. Additionally, it addresses addiction to pornography and gambling. It is estimated that 80% of adolescents aged between 13 and 15 in Spain have recently consumed pornography, which can distort their perception of sexuality and lead to risky sexual behaviours. Gambling addiction is also on the rise, with a significant increase in young people addicted to online gaming and sports betting. The report stresses that these behaviours have devastating consequences on the mental health, academic performance, and social relationships of young people.
