The los of global biodiversity is one of the most important challenges facing our society. Agriculture has been fundamental to human development, but in the last century, it has significantly contributed to this loss. The intensification of agricultural systems has increased production but also brought significant enviromental costs, such as the decline in insect population. This context justifies the search for alternative agricultural management methods to mitigate these negative impacts. The development of a sustainable agricultrual production paradigm can help reduce the impacts of current models and allow agricultura top lay crucial role in biodiversity conservation. New research trends focus on conservation biological control, which uses biodiversity managment and promotion to sustainably regulate pest populations, reducing the need for pesticides. An exhaustive search of the scientific literatura reveals an exponential increase in publications on conservation biological control, especially in recent years. Strategies such as the uses of cover crops, the establishment of natural refuges, and their application in specific crops like citrus have shown that fostering biodiversity increases the effectiveness of natural enemies as biologcal control agents. It is concluded that conservation biological control is available and effective strategy for maining agricultural pests, promoting the sustainability and health of agroecosystem, althougt more research is needed to adapt practises to different agricultural contexts.
