Education has undergone many changes over the past decades, and today we find ourselves in a moment where new technologies like ChatGPT are revolutionizing the teaching-learning process. The objective of this work is to explore the advantages and disadvantages, as well as the uses that have been given so far, in the educational field, both at the higher and university levels, to ChatGPT. To this end, a descriptive-type systematic review has been carried out, elaborating the PRISMA diagram with articles indexed in the Google Scholar database. The search was conducted using the descriptors: chatgpt and education, using the connector "AND" in the search process. After applying a series of inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of fifteen articles were selected that make up the sample. Various advantages are highlighted, such as the improvement of individualized student attention, among others. However, disadvantages are also evidenced, such as the absence of human interaction, the risk of biases, or the lack of privacy and security. Some possible uses include the creation of educational material or a support tool for students. It is concluded that there is a balance between the advantages and disadvantages of ChatGPT, and it is undeniable the multiple uses that can be given to it. However, it is necessary to control its use and ensure that everything comes from a reliable source.
