Journalism, historically dominated by men, has undergone a significant transformation thanks to women who challenged stereotypes and paved the way for future generations. In Spain, this change began during the Second Republic with pioneering figures such as Josefina Carabias. Carabias stands out as the first general news editor in Spanish periodical press and a pioneer in radio journalism. Unlike her contemporaries, she did not limit herself to "women's topics" and built a career based on current affairs journalism. Her clear and direct style, along with her ability to connect with the public, made her a very popular figure and significantly influenced the perception of women's roles in journalism. Carabias's career is diverse and significant, spanning from her beginnings as an editor at Estampa magazine, her parliamentary chronicles, her work in exile, to her role as a correspondent in the United States and France. Her reports humanized the news, and her focus on human interest and social context transformed the journalism of her time. Throughout her career, Carabias broke molds and overcame patriarchal obstacles, gaining recognition and respect in a male-dominated field. Her professional work covered multiple genres and topics, and her legacy remains a reference in journalism. This paper explores her life and work as a testament to her contribution to journalism and her fight for women's rights
