The objective of this study was to analyze scientific publications on emotional competence from a double perspective, that of the teacher and that of the students, and their influence on academic performance. The Google academic search engine was used to collect current information at the legislative level in the Spanish educational system on emotional education, specifically at the secondary stage. The findings found at the legislative level show us that the current education law makes mention of emotional education but is not specifically addressed, making it very difficult to establish specific guidelines for action. The PsycInfo, Dialnet, Eric and Scopus databases were used to compile studies. During the bibliographic search, different Emotional Education programs have been found for its development in students where the favorable and influential relationship between academic performance and emotional education is evident, but not so many programs have been found that guide teacher training. The conclusion is that the training of teachers in the development of their own emotional competencies is essential so that they can then guide and train their students and serve as models for them, which is why the need to include and develop programs such as the one presented here is justified. presents to train teachers and establish a bond with students as a way to improve professional quality, as well as personal enrichment and improvement of academic performance
