The Phobia to blood-injections-injuries-wounds is characterized by the fear and the avoidance of the situations related directly or indirectly with blood, injections or wounds.
This work shows a clinical case in which the treatment and evolution of a man aged 22 years old suffering from blood-injection-wounds phobia is described. The evaluation was made in the pretreatment, during the treatment, and once the treatment was over. The treatment consisted in 9 sessions lasting an hour and a half each one. The aim of the therapy was focused mainly in the removal of the physiological symptoms as a result of the exposure to certain situations and phobic stimulus, and also the elimination of the problem behavior. A variety of different treatment techniques of cognitive-behavioral cohort was used, such as; systematic desensitization, deep calming breathing, “in vivo” exposure technic, all of them combined with applied tension. Treatment outcome is positive due to the fulfilled objective of the therapy.
