Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is considered one of the most common causes of neurological disability in adults, causing progressive physical, cognitive, and emotional deterioration. Objectives: To know the effects of resistance training as an intervention in MS patients individually and in combination with other exercise therapies. Material and methods: A bibliographic search was carried out in the Pubmed, Scopus, PEDro, and Cochrane databases, screening by title and abstract and the subsequent application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, obtaining 12 final articles for this work. Results: The results obtained show how individually the ER can improve muscle strength and fatigue mainly, but, if it is combined with other training methods such as aerobic, balance, and multimodal training... significant improvements are obtained in other different variables, such as in brand performance, balance, quality of life, depression, among others. Conclusion: The ER mainly influences variables such as muscle strength and fatigue, however, others are fundamental, which improve more significantly if this training is combined with other exercise methods. In addition, the different forms of application of the ER complicate the elaboration of a standard program, so more research is needed on this topic.
