Introduction: Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric syndrome suffered by 1% of the population, and due to its symptomatology, it is considered one of the most disabling psychopathologies. Its usual treatment is the administration of psychotropic drugs. However, these entail a series of adverse effects. For this reason, exercise has been proposed as a therapeutic tool, since thanks to its inherent positive effects, it can minimize the pharmacological consequences, and achieve benefits on its psychopathology. Objective: The main objective is to analyze the possible effects that therapeutic exercise can generate in people with schizophrenia, as well as the different modalities and their dosage. Material and methods: A literature search was carried out in different databases: ScienceDirect, Scopus, Cochrane, PEDro, and PubMed. These databases were used to extract a series of studies that analyzed the effects of exercise therapy in schizophrenia. Results: Thirteen studies were included. Nine used aerobic exercise, two used strength, one combined both, and one used body awareness therapy. Measurements were made on neurocognitive, social, and cardiovascular aspects. On these aspects, exercise shows positive results. Conclusions: Exercise therapy has been shown to have several positive effects on schizophrenia. However, there is no clear consensus on optimal dosage and exercise, as well as insufficient knowledge about the mechanisms by which these effects occur. Therefore, more, and better research is needed to address and resolve these obstacles
