This report tries to give an overview of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, one of the most important sporting events in the world, the first in the category of football, and the most controversial and peculiar in recent years. The media are witnessing how this tournament has been experienced in a country that does not enjoy certain rights and freedoms that are unimaginable in a European society today. Qatar has been in the spotlight since its election, following the accusations made by the United States about the legality of the votes that ultimately led to it hosting the World Cup in 2010. In addition, the 2022 World Cup will be remembered for being the first in the Emirates, as well as the most expensive for hosts and visitors, such as the media, who have made an unprecedented financial outlay to report from the ground. As is often the case, once the ball was in motion, all eyes were no longer on the controversy, and the whole world was thrilled by an event that ended in the best possible way: with a heart-stopping final between France and Argentina (who came out on top). Only one detail was able to change the course of the fans' attention during the dispute, the Twitch platform, which will always be part of the memory of this edition thanks to the initiative of coach Luis Enrique. His casts, day in and day out, have made this World Cup the most communicative, while the media have covered the tournament in the most digital way possible.
