Abstract

China es, hoy, uno de los mercados más rentables del mundo. Con una de las extensiones territoriales más grandes, superpoblación y su nivel de PIB, es una de las grandes potencias económicas. Esta riqueza económica se ve contrastada por un control gubernamental que afecta, no siempre de forma positiva, a los mercados culturales. Uno de los principales afectados por las decisiones desde la Asamblea es el sector cinematográfico, cuyas instituciones reguladoras imponen una serie de leyes que acentúan el proteccionismo cinematográfico nacional y dificulta la exhibición de películas y series extranjeras. La censura de contenidos ha fortalecido dentro de las fronteras del país unos servicios de distribución multimedia sustitutivos, como plataformas streaming o servicios de alojamientos de vídeos que operan dentro del país, creando un ecosistema hermético basado en el producto nacional antes que el extranjero.

China is, today, one of the most profitable markets in the world. With one of the largest territorial extensions, overpopulation and its level of GDP, it is one of the great economic powers. This economic wealth is contrasted by government control that affects, not always positively, the cultural markets. One of the main parties affected by the decisions from the Assembly is the cinematographic sector, whose regulatory institutions impose a series of laws that accentuate national cinematographic protectionism and hinder the exhibition of foreign films and series. Content censorship has strengthened substitute multimedia distribution services within the country's borders, such as streaming platforms or video hosting services that operate within the country, creating a hermetic ecosystem based on the national product rather than the foreign one.
