Introduction. Cognitive rehabilitation therapy [CRT] promises to be an effective alternative in substance use disorder (SUD) treatments. There is evidence of its use in the improvement of cognitive conditions deteriorated by consump- tion, greater adherence to treatment, increased abstinence rates and contributes to the restoration of lost executive functions. However, there is no knowledge about its impact on the individual’s social and family reintegration. Objec- tive: The present study seeks to identify the contributions of CRT in the treatment of addictions on the processes of social and family reintegration. Method: The EBSCOHOST, SCOPUS, SCIENCEDIRECT, APA &TAYLOR AND FRANCIS data- bases were used, and the systematized documentary review strategy was implemented; 44 articles met the inclusion criteria. Results: There is significant evidence on the effectiveness of CRT training as an improvement in self-control and social, emotional and cognitive skills that contribute positively to the person’s functionality. Conclusions: CRT in- creases employability and helps in family understanding of SCT. It is considered then that CRT could generate a viable alternative in the treatment of SCT.
