The research carried out deals with the different calorific value of various materials, from forest residues such as the remains of different trees such as almond, olive or palm trees, to others produced through treatments, such as the case of compost from a WWTP. With this, the aim is to compare the contained energy that can exist between different materials and waste, in addition to knowing what its use would be, both energetic and functional, to promote the principle of a circular economy and soften the current energy crisis.
The technique used to measure the calorific value was by means of a calorimeter in the laboratory, thus obtaining results and observing variations between them, reaching a value of 19941 kJ/kg for the samples of forest residues, but only 11462 kJ/kg for the sample of compost collected from a WWTP.
This explains the important role played by the organic matter contained in these materials for the subsequent obtaining of renewable energy, pruning remains being more energetic than compost since they are made up mostly of it.
