Introduction. Childhood obesity is an abnormal o excessive accumulation of
adipose tissue in childhood period that can become a serious health problem.
Obesity is an increasing pathology in wich lifestyles are one of the most
important factor, being this influenced in most part by parents in childhood. It
has also investigated that family functioning can influence over the weight of
each family members.
Objective. To knwoledge the parental perception on the weight of their
children whose age are between 5 and 9 years. Methodology. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study. The study
population is made up to 1681 and the sample of the study is made up of 213
people (95% CI and 15% E), selected by a simple random simple. A form will
be administered where anthropometric, educational and economic data will
be collected.. It will be collected through validated scales family functioning
and the parental perception not only about themselves but also about their
children. The variables to be evaluated are: biological age, sex, height, weight, parental
perception, parental educational level, total income level and family
functioning.
Outcomes. To know the influence of parental perception on the weight of their
chirldren whose ages are between 5 and 9 years old in order to carry out new
interventions on habits or family dyncamics to generate a positive change in
health. The main limitation is related with parental participation.
