The characteristics and results of a study maid thanks to the aids of the Spanish Government Delegation of National Plan on Drugs and focused on the analysis of video clips submitted bay university students to the competition “Drogas: tu punto de mira” organised by the Spanish association PDSPromoción y Desarrollo Social, about drug use are collected in this article. Objective. To know the dominant representation derived from these videoclips about the reasons and meanings of the consumption of psychotropic substances, addictive behaviors and the arguments used to avoid or reduce this consumption. Method. By applying messages analysis techniques, the total number of videoclips submitted to the contest in each of its editions from 2012 to 2016 (494) have been analyzed. The analysis questionnaire considers both categorical variables of a formal nature and narrative content (characters, referents, consumption context represented) allowing the quantitative exploitation of the results obtained. Results and Conclusions. The results seem to point towards an evolution of video clips, moving from an initial interpretative model closely associated with the healthavoidance vision, to a proposal that we could call culturalalternative. It is also observed an increasing weight of video clips made by women, although these hypotheses should be verified or falsified in subsequent analysis.
