Cardiovascular problems are one of the leading causes of death in elderly people in Spain. Initially, the non-practice of exercise against said pathology was recommended. At present, the practice of exercise is one of the non-pharmacological measures recommended for cardiovascular pathologies but with contradictory results. Objective. The objective of this work is to describe the relationship between cardiovascular pathology and exercise practice and to specify how it contributes to the prevention of pathology. Methodology. A bibliographic search was carried out in the Web of Science, PubMed and CINAHIL databases, using the descriptors "cardiovascular", "elderly", "exercise" from 2013-2018. Results The scientific contributions made show the need to put into practice this line of non-pharmacological action with scientific evidence about the benefits in cardiovascular pathology. In particular, scientific evidence indicates the effectiveness of post-exercise hypotension (HPE) in cardiovascular risk. Conclusions The mechanism by which both resistance and aerobic exercise contributes to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases is the control of tension. Post-exercise hypotension (HPE) has been shown to be effective in the prevention of cardiovascular events in elderly patients
