Theoretical framework. The family, is the basic nucleus of society, its main function is the socialization of children (Martínez, 2015) through parenting practices (Oudhof & Robles, 2014). Psychological well-being (BP) is the resulting state when the achievements in life are evaluated and the degree of personal satisfaction is determined with what was done, done or can be done, from a personal and subjective perspective (Diener & Suh, 2000). Objectives. Describe the perception of parenting practices and psychological well-being in adolescents, as well as establish differences by sex and determine the relationship between the variables for each group of male and female adolescents. Method. Participants were 464 high school students selected through non-probabilistic sampling of state schools in the city of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, 231 men and 233 women, with an average of 16.2 and a standard deviation of 1.10. They were administered the Parenting Perception Practices Scale for Adolescents (Flores, et al., 2017) and the Psychological Wellness Scale for Adolescents (BP-A) (González-Fuentes & Andrade, 2015). Results. Significant differences were found by sex in the communication factor in the parenting perception scale and in psychological well-being in the factors: positive relationships, acceptance, future plans and personal control. Likewise, the correlations showed that higher scores in the parenting perception scale increased scores in psychological well-being, especially in female adolescents
