Sexting is the conduct in which people send and/or receive messages with sexual content through modern means of communication. These messages can be explicit, implicit, with audiovisual or written content, solicited or not, and can have legal implications from sharing said content without permission. This systematic revision has followed the standards established by the PRISMA declaration, collecting a total of 26 studies about sexting, as the conduct has gained interest over the past years primarily due to the growth of social media platforms like Instagram, which allows the sending and receiving of temporary messages. Also analysed is the prevalence and sharing of sexting messages. The results, with a total of 29848 participants (55% of which are female, with an average age of 17.75), reveal a prevalence of 28.39% and positive correlations between the year of the sample and sexting, showing a rising tendency. No correlations or significant differences were found between sexting and the age or sex.
