The main objective of this research was to study whether the implementation of a physical activity program could help increasing compliance with smoking cessation treatment, since the lack of it has important clinical and economic consequences. As a secondary objective it was to evaluate the effectiveness of the multicomponent treatment based on the cognitive-behavioral program of Elisardo Becoña (2003). Twenty people participated in this research, and were assigned for convenience (availability of participants) to two different groups: Control Group without Physical Activity (Non PA; n=8), which received only psychological treatment (group format, weekly frequency, duration 10 weeks) and Experimental Group with Physical Activity (PA; n=12), which in addition to psychological therapy, received a Weekly Physical Activity Program and a follow-up. To measure compliance and effectiveness of the program, attendance and CO level variables were measured weekly, respectively. After the completion of the treatment, it was concluded, on the one hand, that the physical activity program had not been successful and had not improved the therapeutic compliance in the AF Group. On the other hand, the multicomponent program has been effective in the Non AF group (50% of therapeutic success, with CO levels below 6ppm), but not in the AF group (8.33% of success). These results may be due to the high prevalence of dual pathology in this group. Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, no follow-up could be performed to assess abstinence maintenance after 6 months.
