La influencia de la tragedia griega en el Match Point de Woody Allen

Abstract

Partiendo de los orígenes de las tragedias griegas clásicas, esta investigación tiene por objetivo la identificación de los rasgos más característicos del género, que se ven reflejadas en el largometraje Match Point (2005) del director estadounidense Woody Allen. A través de un análisis comparativo de estructura y temática de tres de las obras más representativas de dos de los grandes dramaturgos griegos, Sofocles y Eurípides. Estudiaremos cómo Woody Allen hace un uso muy sutil, pero perfectamente reconocible de los aspectos propios del género trágico griego.

Starting from the origins of classical Greek tragedies, this research aims to identify the most characteristic features of the genre, which are reflected in the film Match Point (2005) by American director Woody Allen. Through a comparative analysis of structure and theme of three of the most representative plays by two of the great Greek playwrights, Sophocles and Euripides. We will study how Woody Allen makes a very subtle, but perfectly recognizable use of the aspects of the Greek tragic genre.
