Abuse, abandonment and hazardous conditions during delivery, forced sterilisation or forced abortion, and hiding information from women to give their consent to certain methods. These are only some examples of what the United Nations (UN) has recently defined as “Obstetric Violence”. A study done in 2020 by the University Jaume I shows that almost 40% of women think that have suffered Obstetric Violence during pregnancy, delivery and the postpartum period. However, it does not exist a consensus between professionals and apparent victims as regards the term, which makes difficult it assignation and the implementation of legislative measures. The covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent health crisis came to the fore, with the prohibition of any kind of accompaniment to pregnant women, and sometimes the contacto of them with their own baby, ignoring the consequences that this could entail for both. In this way social networks has became an essential tool to give voice to those women who have felt their rights, as women and mothers, violated during this process, and to those professionals who fight daily to give proper and respectful attention to all patients who go through hospital centres.
