Audiovisual communication is constantly evolving and with it the way of consuming audiovisual content. Virtual reality, specifically 360º video, is on the rise and new formats such as immersive documentaries are beginning to emerge. Taking into account the technology called immersive and viewing devices such as virtual reality glasses, in this assignment we set out the narrative and the audiovisual language used in these pieces are considered as contributors so that they can be called immersive. Through the quantitative and qualitative analysis of three 360º documentary pieces, The Hidden, The Displaced and Clouds over Sidra, the narrative used to tell the story is analyzed. The objective is to assess immersiveness in terms of narrative and audiovisual language. To do this, the features that encourage the viewer to cross the screen that separates them from the story are detected and valued in order to create an emotional connection between the viewer and what is narrated. The conclusions obtained in these three cases reveal that this immersiveness is not enhanced in this new format. We find slight features of immersive narrative in each of the pieces, but in no case does it exceed 35% of the total duration of the piece, so the piece cannot be considered to be immersive.
