Given the olfactory system importance in daily life (related to emotions and memory) and its pathologies, the professionals responsible for its rehabilitation and treatment have poor knowledge about its formation. It would be interesting to find techniques that allow us to implement it and to achieve a more effective intervention. Working hypothesis: Immunohistochemical technique against Neurofilament and lipophilic markers (DiI) are good tools for studying the olfactory system development. Objective: To study, through the use of immunohistochemical technique and lipophilic markers (DiI), the prenatal and postnatal development of the olfactory system connections to describe the above-mentioned tracts formation. Materials and methods: This work has been carried out using 2 tools: immunohistochemistry against Neurofilament and DiI lipophilic marker in the study of the embryonic development of the olfactory system in E12.5, E15.5, E18.5 and P3 stages. Results: In the results obtained it can be observed how, as the stages develop, the morphological structures related to the olfactory system are determined and increased in size. Some of them, such as the olfactory bulb, are detectable from the earliest stages while others, such as the olfactory tubercle, do not appear until more advanced stages. Discussion: The two techniques have shown their validity to study this system. The results obtained have allowed us to observe how and when the different components are developed.
