The media has made great strides over the years. And with them, the ethical standards chosen for the publication and dissemination of information. However, with the appearance of yellow journalism at the end of the 19th century, these ethical guidelines have become even more necessary, given that this type of journalism is based on getting an audience regardless of the rights that may be violated, meaning: anything goes if you manage to do business and increase your audience. Since the first creation of the deontological codes, a long way has been travelled in favour of those people who are the protagonists of the information, since their protection is increasing. In most European countries, but especially in Great Britain and Spain (which is where our object of study is centred) there are elements of self-regulation of different types of media. It is important, above all, to protect minors in the information that is given, since they are one of the most vulnerable groups in our society and cannot defend themselves as an adult would. What is more, anything published that is harmful to them may mean that their lives are marked forever. For this reason, in this end-of-grade paper we have studied two cases of disappearances of minors Yéremi Vargas and Madeleine McCann and whether or not the treatment of information in the newspapers El País and The Guardian is ethical. For this, content analysis has been used as a method, being the sample of analysis a total of 28 news items, nine in the case of little Yéremi Vargas and the rest referring to Madeleine McCann
