AIM: to identify PROMs about the affected upper limb function in children aged 5 – 18 years with hemiplegia and to evaluate their psychometric properties for implementation in clinical use METHODS: A systematic review was conducted. EMBASE, PEDro, Scopus, PubMed and Cochrane Library databases were searched. Then, methodological quality of the selected articles was evaluated to measure the psychometric properties with the COSMIN tool "Risk of bias checklist for assessing the quality of studies" and the characteristics of the articles on psychometric properties and clinical utility of the scales were pooled. RESULTS: 18 articles from 8 different PROMs were identified. 2 PROMs are guided interviews and 6 are questionnaires. All measured different aspects of daily performance by assessing bimanual tasks. The characteristics and psychometric properties of each one were classified. CONCLUSION: ABILHAND-Kids is the best scale to measure the manual ability of the child perceived by the parents. HUH has good evidence to measure spontaneous use of the child's affected limb. CHEQ 2.0 is a very promising scale that measures various aspects of the child's experience, but needs more study on its properties. CHSQ measures a construct very similar to ABILHAND-Kids without having as much evidence. PMAL and its modifications PMAL-R and PMAL-R Use Arm do not have enough evidence for clinical use. More studies are required on the development of new PROMs, validation of properties of the current ones and Spanish translations.
